TUDUM 2021: Netflix’s biggest TV show reveals itself


The Netflix The TUDUM 2021 event sparked a torrent of new TV trailers for some of the most anticipated winter 2021 and spring 2022 series. This included both the latest seasons of popular series like The witcher and Strange things and the first glimpse of long-awaited new shows, like The sand man and Cowboy Bebop.

Netflix’s annual TUDUM event is one of the biggest entertainment opportunities online. This year’s TUDUM featured appearances from over 145 actors and creators from around the world. Over 100 TV series, movies and specials in total were announced or teased as part of the event.

The lion’s share of those presentations were for television series, with more than 70 individual shows recognized during the three-hour global stream. While not all 70+ series have released a trailer or teaser, there was still a considerable amount of new exclusive Netflix material to consider. Here’s a look at all of the major trailers and reveals released as part of Netflix’s TUDUM 2021 event.

Stranger Things Season 4

Pick up directly where Strange things season 3 is over, the next season of Strange things season 4 will involve the mysterious Creel House. The trailer shows Will, Lucas, Dustin, Max, and Steve breaking into the placid abode, but it doesn’t take long for things to take a frightening turn. A premiere date for Strange things Season 4 has yet to be announced, beyond its scheduled release in 2022.

Money Heist Season 5, Part 2

Initially produced in limited series for Spanish television, Money theft proved popular enough that Netflix was willing to fund additional seasons of the fast-paced crime series about eight randomly chosen by a mysterious character known as the Professor to perform a number of daring heists. The second half of Money theft Season 5 is set to air on December 3, 2021. The trailer for the new season finds the thieves at each other’s throats as they disagree on what to do in the absence of the professor, who mysteriously disappeared.

Ozark Season 4

Released in 2017 to rave reviews, Ozark centers around financial advisor Marty Byrde (Justin Bateman), who becomes part of a drug smuggling operation even after leaving Chicago for a rural area in the Ozark Mountains. The upcoming fourth season of Ozark will be the last, composed of 14 episodes which will be released in two blocks. The official release date has yet to be announced for Ozark season 4, part 1, beyond its arrival in early 2022. The trailer for Ozark Season 4, Part 1 picks up where the Season 3 finale ended, with Marty and his wife Wendy washing blood on their faces following the brutal execution they witnessed.

Sex Education Season 4

Mainly focused on the socially awkward Otis (Asa Butterfield), Sex education details the lives of students, parents and staff at Moordale High School after Otis started an underground sex therapy group at the school. The coming of age series was a critical and commercial success for Netflix, and its third season was released earlier this month. Given this, it’s no surprise that there has been little to say about Sex education during Netflx’s TUDUM 2021 event, beyond the fact that the series will return for Sex education season 4. An official release date has yet to be announced, but it should be sometime in the second half of 2022.

Spotlight on series for young adults

Locke and Key Season 2

Netflix has become known for its young adult programming, so it’s no surprise that a good chunk of TUDUM 2021 was devoted to the announcement of the renewed YA series. Fans of Blood and water, Dear Whites, Elite, Lock & Key, Lost in space, Love 101 and On my block can all expect to see new seasons of their favorite shows in the coming year. Netflix also announced the release of several new YA series, including Al Rawabi School for Girls, Bienvenidos to Eden, Selected, Pollock in black and white, Invisible thread, Las Niñas de Cristal, Dangerous relationships and Open your eyes.

Bridgerton Season 2

Based on the popular Julia Quinn series of novels, Bridgerton follows the life of the Bridgerton family. The trailer for Bridgerton Season 2 centers around the rocky romance between Antony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and the object of his affections, Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). A release date for Bridgerton Season 2 has yet to be announced, as it’s still being filmed, although it’s slated for release in the first half of 2022.

The first look at the sand man

Based on the award-winning series of graphic novels written by Neil Gaiman, The sand man is one of the most anticipated series of 2022. The first season of the Netflix adaptation of The sand man will adapt the first two novels, Preludes and Nocturnes and The doll house. The first trailer for The sand man centers around the capture of the main character, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge), by a group of wizards led by Roderick Burgess (Charles Dance). This event set the stage for the saga that followed, as Dream endured captivity for seven decades before escaping and struggling to cope with the consequences of her absence.

Spotlight on anime

Netflix has built a reputation in recent years as a creator and distributor of quality anime. The TUDUM Anime Spotlight revealed that won’t change in the coming year, with a new season on the way to Aggretsuko, Netflix will also distribute Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie internationally and produce an anime spin-off of their original series Luminous soul and samurai.

Cowboy Bebop opening credits reveal

One of the most intriguing teasers released as part of TUDUM 2021 was the opening credits for Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop adaptation. While not a note-for-note reproduction of the classic opening from the original series, it included the same jazzy theme and mimicked a number of images from the original animated sci-fi western on a team of bounty hunters trying to overcome their respective pasts. while bringing the most dangerous criminals in the solar system to justice. Cowboy Bebop will be released on November 19, 2021.

Cobra Kai Season 4

Based on the 1984 classic The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai has become one of Netflix’s most surprisingly popular series. The trailer for Cobra Kai Season 4 finds longtime rivals Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) joining their dojos to train against the threat posed to them both by Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). Promised for a release at the end of 2021, Netflix barely keeps this promise, with Cobra Kai Season 4 is scheduled to begin airing on December 31.

The Witcher Season 2

The witcher The Season 2 trailer revealed that the New Year will find plenty of challenges for Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), as he begins to oversee the training of Princess Ciri (Freya Allan) in the same arts as he employs as a monster slayer. The new season will feature new characters, such as Geralt befriending a cursed man named Nivellen (Kristofer Hivju), whose story is reminiscent of the classic fairy tale. The beauty and the Beast.
