The Children’s Place partners with Kevin Hart to support communities for Back to School 2022


Children’s Place, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCE), North America’s largest children’s specialty retailer, announces its 2022 Back to School Campaign in partnership with award-winning actor, comedian, best-selling author and philanthropist, Kevin Hart. In an effort to empower children through reading and lifelong education, The Children’s Place, alongside Mr. Hart, will launch a number of learning centers across the country. Located in deserving neighborhoods, these learning centers are fun and safe spaces that will encourage creative exploration and discovery in children.

To kick off the back-to-school season, the company and Mr. Hart today unveiled the first Community Learning Center at the Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center at NYC Parks in East Harlem, New York. The Children’s Place team, Hart, New York City Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue, and other New York government officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and ribbon-cutting event with fun activities for kids. children and families in the East Harlem community. Hundreds of children filled a colorful and imaginative space with books in hand, listening to Mr. Hart as he hosted an exclusive reading from his book, Marcus makes a movie, the first in a heavily illustrated mid-level series published by Crown Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books. The grand opening event also featured immersive and experiential activations, including a branded school bus. The Children’s Place school bus was filled with backpacks filled with back-to-school products and accessories, as well as BIC-provided school supplies including pencils, markers and more.

Expanding the program to deserving communities nationwide, The Children’s Place will continue efforts to launch nine more learning centers through fall 2022. In collaboration with local libraries, community centers and savings books, the leading independent online seller of new and used books, The Children’s Place Reading Centers will each offer thousands of books, totaling more than 20,000 books donated by ThriftBooks to stock the spaces. Each space will feature comfy seating, interactive whiteboard walls and engaging murals and artwork to serve as a safe haven where children in each community can access reading materials and learning supplies, while allowing them to flourish in the imagination.
