The Nun’s Director and the Crow reboot, hope Corin Hardy still intends to make the stuck update.
If there is a Crow curse, it has for years hampered attempts to produce a new version of Alex Proyas’ film starring Brandon Lee that remains the most widely adopted entry in a franchise with more missteps than golden strokes. .
True love is forever
A few years ago, it looked like a reboot helmed by horror director Corin Hardy, and giving Aquaman star Jason Momoa, another trendy and hip superhero property to be bragged about, was gaining momentum. Unfortunately, as with all other trials before this one, the project has been put on hold and almost no new developments have appeared in recent memory.
That didn’t deter Hardy, however, who expressed his hope and desire in an interview with Comicbook.com to always run in production on The crow someday and finish it off by saying “there’s no reason not to do much more with this character” given all the source material, lore, and relevance to today.
“I think James O’Barr’s original graphic novel Crow and the other subsequent iterations of that character in the comics, there’s no reason not to do a lot more with that character, the concept of The Crow, the mythology of The Crow, and the tone and what it represents is still unique in the world we are in right now.
After confessing his love for the property and the time he spent on it, Hardy shared his belief that he would one day make it happen:
“It’s a story that I’m just in love with and got married to and put in three and a half years, four years of life and love and blood and sweat and tears, and i have a ton of material so i dont know if someday i guess i dont really want to show them because i still believe there will be a crow someday but we’ll see.
Development of the Hell for The Crow franchise
New Crow has been in development for years and at one point or another the list of names attached or under negotiation according to reports and speculation has included Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy, Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, Sam Witwer, Alexander Skarsgard, Jack Huston and The batman perspectives Nicholas Hoult and Jack O’Connell.
The first was released in 1994 and was marked by the tragic and untimely death of Brandon Lee in an accident on set involving an improperly prepared propeller gun. It was finished using revolutionary computer effects for the time to insert Lee’s face into some shots. In two milestones celebrated by fans earlier in the year, 2021 is her 27th birthday and Lee would have turned 56.
Lower quality suites
A suite, The crow: the city of angels, with its own chaotic legacy followed in 1996. Telling a new story exploring more themes of life, death, love and redemption, it was to last over two hours until producer Harvey Weinstein and the Miramax studio order the finished product to be cut. well below that mark at almost 90 minutes. Even today, a real director’s cut restoring the original vision has never seen the light of day.
A short-lived TV series and two more sequels in The crow: salvation and The Raven: Wicked Prayer came later, released in 2000 and 2005 respectively. All of their scores among viewers and reviews on various aggregators, including City, are dismal because their mixed quality pales compared to the original.
The remake film has been in the works since 2008 and began with the promise of Blade director Stephen Norrington returns to the movies. Corin Hardy inherited the project in 2014 with little other than the material he hinted at to show it off.
Given the show’s tumultuous decades-long history, many – including people with connections to the 1994 film – think it’s best to forget about the reboot and let Brandon Lee’s performances continue to unfold. stand the test of time as a cornerstone of cinema history.
