WEST STOCKHOLM, New York (WWNY) – The funeral of John M. Bunstone, 63, of West Stockholm will be held Tuesday, September 13 at noon at the Garner Funeral Service. Interment will follow at West Stockholm Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, September 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. John died suddenly in Canton-Potsdam Hospital on the evening of Friday, September 9, 2022.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Karen, two sons Merrick (Lillian) Bunstone of Parishville and Timothy (Cassandra) Bunstone of South Colton, his grandchildren Katie, Marcie, Oliver and Henri Bunstone, brothers Jim (Robin) of Potsdam and Jeff of Colton, sisters Rae Ellen Domicolo of Oswego and Veleta (Rod) Bresee of New Hampshire, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was born on February 28, 1959 in Potsdam, the son of the late Merrick and Mary (Scott) Bunstone. After graduating from Potsdam High School in 1977, he began his 45-year career at Niagara Mohawk and Brookfield as a maintenance chief mechanic, a job he truly loved.

He was a member of Potsdam Elks Lodge #2074, Moose Lodge #2397, St. Regis Falls Sportsman, Harley Owners Group (HOG), IBEW Local 97, Parishville and West Stockholm Volunteer Fire Departments. When John wasn’t working, he enjoyed reading non-fiction books, hunting deer, fishing for speckled trout in the Adirondacks, watching sports: his favorite teams included the Chicago Blackhawks, Miami Cubs and Dolphins, driving his Harley Davidson. , cooking (on the grill or in the kitchen), traveling through the North Country with Karen, and enjoyed spending time with her family, her grandchildren holding a special place in her heart.

Mr. Bunstone was a social and straightforward man whose personality will be truly missed.
