‘Divergent’ author Veronica Roth will stop at Fairfield University

More than a decade after the release of “Divergent,” author Veronica Roth transports readers to another dystopian world with her new book.

The New York Times #1 bestselling author is known for the popular young adult trilogy “Divergent,” which was voted teens’ favorite novel in a 2012 poll and has been adapted into a series of blockbuster films, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet.

Her latest novel follows Sonya Kantor, a former poster artist from the old regime who is imprisoned and must find a missing girl in exchange for her freedom. In her search, Sonya uncovers dark secrets about her family and her community.

“With razor-sharp prose, ‘Poster Girl’ is a haunting dystopian mystery that explores the growing role of surveillance on society – an inescapable reality that we welcome all too easily,” reads the book’s description.

Meetup attendees will also receive a copy of “Poster Girl” with the option to customize the book in advance.

In addition to the “Divergent” series, Roth is the New York Times bestselling author of “Chosen Ones,” the short story collection “The End and Other Beginnings,” and the “Carve the Mark” books. The Chicago-based author is also the guest editor of the recent edition “The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy.”

Roth is on the Fairfield University Bookstore’s Fall Guest Author List, which also includes Zibby Owens of “Bookends” and Kitty Zeldis of “The Dressmakers of Prospect Heights.”
